We also participate in NYC’s Animal Care & Control New Hope program, through which we rescue several animals each month off of the euthanasia list. For more information, please visit our site at www.muttsandmitts.blogspot.com http://muttsandmitts.blogspot.com Poor Animals of St. Francis Inc http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NY587.html Poor Animals of St. Francis Inc. was established to provide responsible, permanent, loving homes to healthy pets and to maintain their health and well being by assisting families who are under financial restraints to feed and properly care for their animals. We do not operate out of a shelter. Our animals are placed in foster homes that provide the animals with a temporary haven while waiting to be adopted by the family best suited to meet their individual needs. We do not receive any financial assistance from local, state or federal governments. We are a non-profit organization that depends on the kindness of volunteers whose only compensation is the rewarding satisfaction of placing homeless animals in suitable homes. We rely solely on charitable contributions to reach and maintain our ongoing goals. All donations directly benefit the animals. Broadalbin, New York on Old State Road . www.helpingpawsrescue.com, e-mail - helpingpawsrescue@yahoo.com Helping Paws Rescue is a 501(c)3 rescue group that helps all animals. We take in abandoned, neglected, stray and unwanted animals. We have helped horses, cats, dogs, rats, bunnies, etc., but mostly we have dogs and many cats. We bring our animals to adoption clinics held at various locations. We have vet care for the animals here, spay/neuter and socialize them so we may find them their forever homes. Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has served Rochester, NY , and surrounding areas since 1873. As an open-admission shelter, no animal in need is ever turned away. With over 13,000 animals coming through our doors each year, Lollypop Farm is committed to building lifelong bonds between people and animals through education, community outreach programs and the prevention of cruelty. Visit our web site to learn more about our adoptions of cats, dogs, small animals, and farm animals, as well as out multitude of programs and services. Secretary of Love 'n' Care Pet Sanctuary East Durham, NY We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and a no kill shelter. We primarily rescue cats and kittens as a proliferation of feral cats is the main problem we have in Green County , NY . None of the governmental agencies are doing anything about the exploding cat population. The residents of the county are poor and cannot pay for spay/neuter nor do they know how to trap and tame feral cats. We seem to have become the shelter of last resort as other shelters in the area will only take in "tame and friendly" stray cats and kittens. They also will not take in a surrendered companion animal. We recognize the problem of elderly people going into nursing homes and leaving pets behind. These animals are often put outside to fend for themselves, which they cannot do, since they have been taken care of indoors all of their lives. We help where we can but the problem is enormous and we are dreadfully under-funded. If there is any way that you can help us we will be eternally grateful. www.CompanionAnimalNetworkTV.org

Shepherds' Hope Rescue http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NY769.html We were formed by two independent rescuers who forged an alliance to more effectively help our beloved breed. We are disturbed by the alarming increase of German Shepherd Dogs in the country's animal shelters and in neglectful situations. We are not a shelter nor do we have our own facility. As volunteers, we house our rescue dogs either in our own homes, foster homes if available, or board them with dog sitters or kennels until placed with their new families. We make the commitment to each and every animal to resolve any health or behavioral issues prior to adoption, and all dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered and heartworm tested. Our application and home visit process ensures we are placing our dogs in the best possible situations. German Shepherds are not for everyone, and as long-time, multiple Shepherd owners ourselves, we are familiar with the type of home/family best suited for this breed. We also take into considerations the dog's needs and temperament so that both dog and family are happy with the placement. Our goal is save as many German Shepherds and mixes as possible and unite them with loving and caring owners so that they will never suffer or know sadness again.
