Northland Animal Welfare Society is a non-profit 501c3 organization. Our group consists solely of volunteers who, through a variety of fundraising events, are determined to provide a better life for the homeless and abandoned animals of the northland. The mission of Northland Animal Welfare Society is driven by the simple philosophy that kindness to animals helps build a better world for all of us. Our work is supported entirely through the donations of our members and supporters. We want to ensure that animals will never again be alone, hungry, sick, afraid, or in pain. We want to create awareness within our community about the immediate need to reduce the number of unwanted and discarded animals. The cornerstone of our program is to educate and promote the concept of spaying and neutering.

Our goal is to help every animal find a home. If it can’t, then we need a proper shelter to provide a safe, caring, and secure environment until it finds a new home. We strongly believe that every animal deserves the opportunity to live its life as a part of a loving and caring family. All animals are equal in our eyes, and each one has a special gift.We believe that a caring and compassionate commitment to the animals that we share our lives with, will provide for an enriching environment for us all.We believe that it is our responsibility to leave the footprints for those that follow us, to make a difference and to make our contributions meaningful and long-lasting.

Our current goal is to raise the necessary funding to build a new, 21st century animal shelter for all of the Northland—while at the same time, increasing the awareness of the service this new shelter will provide, and highlighting its importance in the northland.

The Pawnee County Humane Society

The Pawnee County Humane Society is located in Larned, KS. We don't even have a shelter building to work out of yet. All of the animals that we take in are fostered in private homes by volunteers. We have saved more than 200 animals in the last two years! We have a GREAT success rate and have not yet had to euthanize an animal due to the inability to find a home!

I also send out monthly newsletters with info, announcements and available animals listed in it. let me know if you would like to be added to the mailing list!

Our site is www.pawneehumane.com

Hometown Poodles

http://www.hometownpoodles.com

Hometown Poodles is located in Rural Central Kansas. We live in the country on 50 acres surrounded by trees. It is a wonderful place to raise our family as well as our dogs. I believe that the setting young creatures are raised in helps to form who they will be later in life. By giving our puppies as well as our own children the freedom to explore nature and grow together we are allowing them to be the best adults that they can possibly be.

Critter Companions

I am Cleta Perry, with my husband Doug and daughter Sandra we operate Critter Companions in Western Kansas. We work closely with the local Vet and take in pets that are due to be euthanized because of a lack of a home. We are not for profit privately run animal shelter. We do not receive funding to operate and all expenses are paid by us.
Every animal that comes to us is brought current with their vaccinations, spayed, neutered, de-clawed if necessary. They all receive any medical attention that they may need to ensure they are happy and healthy when they go to their new homes.
Some may require training in certain areas before going to their new homes, including but not limited to: house training, leash training etc.

JRT Rescue
http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NE35.html

We cover the states of Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. We take Jack Russells into our care who have been abandoned, relinquished by their owners or brought to shelters as strays. We provide the terriers any needed veterinary care and place them in a foster home. We are not a shelter but provide foster care for the dogs until they have their forever home. We do not have a shelter facility. In foster care, we try to find out as much as we can about the terrier's temperament and about any special needs it might have. We socialize the terrier and work on house training. The dog remains in foster care until a permanent, loving home can be found. Foster dogs are in various locations so please call/email for information on a particular dog.
